B2B Design Agencies

B2B product design agencies

Fuselab Creative has the highest composite for B2B product design, 9.3, on tested accessibility and handoff coherence. Clearleft leads on structural depth and design systems, Blink UX on research, and Fantasy on live platform work. Minimums run from $10,000 to $250,000, so budget usually decides the shortlist.

    8.9 Composite score /10

The pick when the problem is structure and systems, not screens.

    Description

Clearleft suits a product whose trouble is structure rather than surface: overlapping modules, unclear navigation, a component library nobody trusts. Design systems and strategy are its stated specialty, and the scores match, with UX structural depth at 9.2 and post-handoff coherence at 9.6, second only to Fuselab Creative. Accessibility at 9.1 and research at 8.9 make it credible for business-user studies too. Design leadership sits in its service list, useful when an in-house team needs a method as well as deliverables. The limit is live product quality, 8.0, its weakest column: the shipped result is less proven than the thinking behind it. Its named clients are the BBC, Sky and Virgin, all consumer or media names, so ask for B2B software references before signing. Twenty to thirty-five people, $160 to $230 an hour, $60,000 minimum, and capacity is thin.

McLean, VA · Est. 2017 · 30–50 · Clutch top UX agency Washington DC, GSA schedule holder

    9.3 Composite score /10

Built for dense authenticated screens, with the strongest handoff here.

    Description

Fuselab Creative is second because its strengths sit where a B2B product actually lives: authenticated screens full of data. Its services list dashboards, data visualisation and map visualisation, and its clients include NASA, NIH and Fiserv, so dense operational interfaces are its normal work rather than a stretch. The scores agree. Live product quality and research both reach 9.4, and accessibility reaches 9.9, the highest of the seven, which matters when a portal must work for every user behind a login. Post-handoff coherence of 9.8 is the best sign here that an in-house team can keep extending the system without it drifting. The clearest limit is independent signals at 7.4, its weakest column and the lowest of the seven: outside recognition is a Clutch listing and a GSA schedule, so buyers must judge the work itself. Thirty to fifty people, $100 to $149 an hour, $25,000 minimum.

    8.8 Composite score /10

Research and accessibility evidence for regulated products, from its own labs.

    Description

Blink UX is the research specialist on this page. Its research evidence score of 9.6 is the highest of the seven, and it runs its own usability labs and owns the participant-recruiting firm Insight Space, so studies with business users are recruited and moderated in-house rather than subcontracted. Tested accessibility of 9.4 is second only to Fuselab Creative, which suits portals and internal tools in health, finance and government. Microsoft, NASA and the Gates Foundation are among its clients, served from studios in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Boston and San Diego. The limit is the shipped interface: live product quality of 8.3 is its weakest column, and research-led engagements often stop at findings, so write the design work and the handoff into the scope from the start. Founded in 2000, 150 to 200 people, $175 to $250 an hour and a $25,000 minimum.

    8.5 Composite score /10

Strong platform design and live results, with accessibility left to prove.

    Description

Fantasy is the platform specialist among the mid-sized practices here. Enterprise UX, platform design, design systems and prototyping cover most of what a multi-role B2B product needs, and prototyping helps settle a disputed workflow before engineers commit to it. UX structural depth of 9.0 and live product quality of 8.8 are both high, and Google, British Airways and Citi show it can work inside large, cautious organisations. Post-handoff coherence of 8.5 is sound rather than outstanding. Accessibility at 8.0 is the clearest limit, and it is the column that matters most once staff use the product daily with assistive tools; ask what testing it does inside logged-in views, not only on marketing pages. It also has the highest rate here, $190 to $280 an hour, with a $150,000 minimum and 80 to 120 people.

    8.2 Composite score /10

Sound handoff and delivery for regulated finance and insurance platforms.

    Description

Praxent is most persuasive when the product is a fintech or insurance platform that has outgrown its first build. Its specialty is exactly that, and platform modernisation and custom software sit beside fintech UX in its services, so design and engineering can be scoped as one piece of work. Post-handoff coherence of 8.6 is its best column, and accessibility of 8.3 and structural depth of 8.4 are respectable. Named clients include Pinnacle Bank, American Fidelity and WesternU. The limit is breadth: outside financial services the evidence thins, and independent signals of 7.7 is its weakest column, with live product quality at 8.0 not far above it. A team building analytics tooling or a developer product should look elsewhere. 150 to 200 people in Austin, $50 to $99 an hour, $25,000 minimum.

Chicago, IL · Est. 2007 · 700–1000 · Forrester Wave leader, Adobe partner of the year

    8.2 Composite score /10

Scale and platform reach for large programmes, thinner on research.

    Description

Rightpoint is the largest practice on this page, with 700 to 1,000 people, and that scale is the reason to hire it: an enterprise platform programme with several teams, stakeholders and release trains needs a partner that will not run short of staff. Enterprise platforms and managed services appear in its offer, so support can continue after launch. Accessibility of 8.4 and post-handoff coherence of 8.3 are steady, and independent signals of 8.5 is its best column, backed by Forrester Wave and Adobe recognition. The limit for product work is research at 7.8, its weakest column: business-user discovery is not where it stands out, so bring your own research or price it separately. Its commerce leaning is a poorer fit for pure SaaS. $150 to $199 an hour and the highest minimum here, $250,000.

    UX Studio

    Product design

Budapest, Hungary · Est. 2013 · 40–70 · Clutch top UX agency Hungary

    8.0 Composite score /10

    Research-first product design at a mid-market price.

    Description

UX Studio is the research-led option at a mid-market price. Its score of 8.9 for research is the third highest here, behind Blink UX and Fuselab Creative, and user research, UX audits and design sprints suit a product team that must test a workflow with real business users before engineering starts. Clients such as HBO, Vodafone and Google show range, though none is a B2B software vendor by name. Structural depth of 8.2 is adequate for a focused product rather than a sprawling platform. The clearest limit is accessibility at 7.7, its weakest column, and post-handoff coherence of 7.9 is not far above it, so a complex authenticated app needs explicit accessibility scope and a handoff plan written into the contract. Budapest, 40 to 70 people, $50 to $99 an hour, $10,000 minimum.

What B2B product design covers

B2B product design is the work of making software that people use to do their jobs: dashboards, admin consoles, customer portals, onboarding flows, reporting tools and the design systems that keep them consistent across teams. The user is often not the buyer, the workflows run for hours, and a single screen may serve several roles with different permissions. That shifts the emphasis from persuasion to clarity, and from launch-day polish to how the interface behaves in its hundredth release.

It is a different job from a marketing site. If you are redesigning pages that prospects read, the B2B website design ranking is the better starting point. If the feature you are adding is machine-learning driven, such as a recommendation panel, a copilot or an automated review queue, see B2B AI product design agencies, which ranks agencies for that kind of work.

How this page scores product work

Each agency is graded on six criteria with published weights: live product quality 20, UX structural depth 20, post-handoff coherence 20, research evidence 15, accessibility (tested) 15 and independent signals 10. For product work, the three 20-point criteria matter most. Live product quality asks whether shipped software holds up in use. Structural depth asks whether the information architecture survives complexity: many objects, many roles, exceptions everywhere.

Post-handoff coherence deserves special attention on this page. A product is never finished when the design engagement ends; an in-house team inherits it. An agency that scores high here leaves behind components, rules and documentation that engineers can extend without drift. An agency that scores low may produce excellent screens that start to fragment soon after release.

The composite is a summary, not a verdict. A studio with a weak column can still be right if that column is not your risk. Read the assessment for each agency, find its stated limit, and decide whether that limit is one your product can afford.

What to ask before you hire

  • Show me a logged-in product you designed. Marketing screenshots prove little; ask for a walkthrough of a real workflow with real complexity.
  • Who did the research, and with whom? Research with business users is harder to recruit than consumer research. Ask how participants are found and who runs the sessions.
  • How do you test accessibility inside the application? Automated scans of public pages are not enough for authenticated software.
  • What will my engineers receive? Ask to see a component specification and a sample of design documentation, and who is available after handoff.
  • Which of these agencies matches my stage? Early-stage teams have different constraints; the guide to design agencies for B2B startups covers budgets and timing for them.

For a wider view of contracts, scoping and how to compare proposals, read how to choose a B2B design agency. Keep the shortlist short: two agencies that fit your product’s real risk will teach you more than five that fit its category.

Common questions

6

How much does B2B product design cost?

The seven agencies here set minimums from $10,000 at UX Studio to $250,000 at Rightpoint, and hourly rates from $50 to $280. Fuselab Creative, Blink UX and Praxent all start at $25,000, with Fuselab Creative at $100 to $149 an hour. Scope moves the total more than the hourly rate does, so price a defined slice first.

Is a product design agency different from a website agency?

Yes. A website agency designs pages that visitors read; a product agency designs authenticated software people use every day, with roles, permissions, dense tables and long workflows. The skills overlap, but the evidence differs. For marketing pages see the B2B website design ranking instead.

Do I need a design system, and who should own it?

Once several squads ship interfaces, yes. Clearleft and Fantasy both list design systems as a service. The real test is ownership after the engagement, which is what post-handoff coherence measures: can your engineers extend the components without calling the agency back?

How should an agency work with our in-house engineers?

Ask to meet the engineers in week one, agree how components are named and documented, and require design review of built screens, not only mockups. Praxent offers custom software alongside design; most others hand over specifications. Either model works if the handoff process is written down.

How do the six criteria apply to a SaaS product?

Live product quality and structural depth carry 40 of 100 points, because SaaS lives in workflows rather than pages. Accessibility (tested) matters most inside logged-in views, and post-handoff coherence asks whether the work survives your team. Independent signals, the smallest weight at 10, covers outside recognition.

Does accessibility matter for an internal tool or admin panel?

Yes, and often more than for public pages. Staff use internal tools for hours, and procurement teams increasingly ask for accessibility evidence. Fuselab Creative scores 9.9 here and Blink UX 9.4, while UX Studio scores 7.7. Ask whether testing covers logged-in screens, not the marketing site.
